PUENTE
I have been a mentor in the PUENTE program at Sierra Community College since 2010. In particular I get paired up with engineering or physical science students to help them succeed and progress to a 4-year University. The program is geared toward underrepresented minorities and first generation students. I grew up not having an idea of what college was or how to obtain the things that I have so far. Dr. Reyes Ortega, who is the Coordinator for this program, was my mentor/counselor at community college and helped me through alot of planning and pursuing my career. I feel very fortunate to have had him there as an adviser and mentor. I enjoy helping those who were in my same position.
