Getting to Davis:
Airplane:

The closest commercial airport is Sacramento International Airport (SMF). To get from the airport to Davis, one can then: rent a car, take a shuttle, or take Yolobus.
  • Rental Car:  Most major rental agencies are represented at SMF.  The rental car facility is located in a a separate building. You must take a shuttle to get to this facility. All rental car companies use the same shuttles to get from the terminals to the rental car facility. The airport is approximately a 30 minute drive to Davis. (driving directions from SMF to UC Davis)
  • Taxi:  Taxis can be hailed at arrivals at SMF. Expect the ride to cost about 50$
  • Shuttle:  The Davis Airporter is another option for people flying in commercially. While it provides service to your front door and is available at all hours of the day and night, it is considerably more expensive than public transportation. See also the Yolo Airporter and the SuperShuttle.
  • Yolobus:  The cheapest alternative is to take Yolobus. For $1.50 the #42B (counter-clockwise) bus will take you to the UCD Union or downtown Davis.

The Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO) airports are also options for people who wish to visit the Bay Area as well as Davis. If your trip itinerary does not include the Bay Area, however, then SMF is the best option for commercial air travel to Davis. Amtrak trains are available from Oakland and San Francisco.
Car

From the Bay Area you will want to take interstate 80 heading to east towards Sacramento. The Davis is about 60 miles East of Berkeley. You will reach Davis before getting to Sacramento. If you are going straight to UC Davis, then take the exit marked " UC Davis " immediately after the exit for highway 113 North. If you are going to downtown Davis, take the next exit, marked " Downtown Davis " . Expect your driving time from Berkeley to Davis to be one hour and fifteen minutes.
Train

There is an Amtrak stop within walking distance of campus. Tickets from the Bay Area cost approximately $30 round trip. If you are flying into San Francisco, Amtrak is the best way to get to Davis. From SFO take BART to Richmond. Exit BART and then take the stairs or elevator up to the Amtrak platform. The Richmond station is unstaffed so Amtrak tickets can be purchased from a machine in the BART station or on board the train.
Arriving on Campus
