Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motion
If you apply Newton’s Laws to
planets, you get some powerful
rules that govern planetary motion
(historically, it went backwards!)
Kepler’s First Law: Each planet moves in an elliptical orbit
with the sun at one focus of the ellipse.
A circle is a special case of an ellipse.
Is the earth closer or further from the sun
