Like energy, momentum is an “abstract quantity”
that helps us solve problems
However, unlike energy, momentum is very “clean” and intuitive --
it is less complicated because there is only
one kind of momentum and it is always conserved in the
absence of external forces
The combination of momentum and energy conservation
will allow you to solve many physics problems
It turns out momentum conservation is really a
fancy restatement of Newton’s Third Law!
