The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is one of the four experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. UC Davis is part of the CMS collaboration, which consists of 3600 people from 183 institutions in 38 countries (as of June 2008). The LHC finished it’s first year of operation and data taking in 2010. Collision energies of 7.0 TeV were reached, the largest ever produced in a particle accelerator.
