1. Treat an object, regardless of how complex, as a point
2. Draw all the forces acting on that object as vectors.
Do not include any other forces except those
action on that object! All forces should have
the object as “B” when the forces are labeled “A on B”
3. Apply Newton’s Laws; often easier said than done
